Introduction
Asim Baloch, son of Faqeer Muhammad and a resident of Nezarabad, Tump (Kech District), was an active member of the Baloch National Movement (BNM). On February 2, 2013, he was abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies from Tump. After months of enforced disappearance, his bullet-riddled body was discovered on May 26, 2013, inside the Nizarabad water supply compound.
Reports indicate that Asim was extrajudicially killed in a staged encounter during a military operation, and his body was discarded by the forces to conceal the crime.
Asim was also the brother-in-law and close relative of renowned Balochi singer Minhaj Mukhtar. Due to his family’s strong political association with the Baloch national movement, their home has repeatedly been targeted by Pakistani military forces since his martyrdom.
