The history of Balochistan is red with the blood of martyrs. Every page of the history of Balochistan is bright with the sacrifices of Balochistan’s patriots, young and old. Such a national legend Rasool Baksh Mengal, was one of the Baloch leader who was crucified to crush the voice of freedom and justice, but this notorious act of the enemy went in vain. Because, the enemy could only end his life not the ideology which he had planted in the freedom movement of the Baloch national cause with his blood and immortal contribution. It is the historical phenomenon of every colonial warfare that whenever the subjugated nation resisted against the colonial yoke of slavery, their leaders ware crucified to squash the freedom movement.
He was born in Nawab Shah, Sindh in 1967. He belonged to Baranzai clan of the Mengal tribe in Wadh, Khuzdar. His family migrated to Khuzdar, Balochistan when his grandfather Mullah Waki Muhammad Hassani passed away.
After completing his primary education in Khuzdar, he went to Shaal (Quetta) for further studies. He initiated his political journey from the platform of Baloch Student organization Anti Sardar. He was a bank cashier, but then left this job for the salvation of his nation from slavery. He said that the tribal chief (sardar) never think in the interest of the Baloch nation rather they only look after their personal interests. He became very disappointed by integration of the BNM into BNDP. He sternly was of the opinion that parliamentarian politics cannot give freedom to Baloch nation. Therefore, he joined Martyr Ghulam Muhammad’s caravan to form Baloch National Movement BNM. He elected as a Central Committee member of BNM in 2004 during 6thnational council session and he elected for the position of Central Deputy Secretary in 2008 during 7thnational council session.
He was one of the proponent of non- parliamentarian politics. He said that emancipation of Baloch nation lies in the non-parliamentarian politics which is set up to promote the colonial interests and policies by the colonial state of Pakistan.
He was a bookworm and was very much pond of reading books. He was an ideal the among freedom seekers. He was imprisoned multiple times. In March 2005, he met Akbar Khan Bugti and Mir Balach Marri. He kept a diary in which he wrote more than 200 political terminologies and defined and explained the terms. About Law he wrote: In order to maintain the order of oppression, the colonialist make such rule and principles which prevent the subjugated people to not resist the system based on oppressive and brutal policies and restrict them under the control of the colonialism. He, who resist the order of colonialism, are called rebel and breacher of law.
Rasool Baksh Mangal was abducted by Agencies of Pakistan from Uthal area of Lasbella, Balochistan on August 25, 2009. Soon after his abduction, his children expressed their concern for his life in a Press Conference on 30th August . He was brutally tortured and was found on August 31 2009, hanging from a tree in Lasbella, Balochistan. Marks of military boots, cigarettes burns and skinning could be visibly seen in his body. On his back “Down BNM and “death to BLA” were curved with butcher’s knife. One of his arm was broken in several places. Today every son and daughter of Baloch follow Shaheed Rasool Baksh and say in the wars of Spartacus, “I am Rasool Baksh Mengal Baloch”. He has become immortal and his sacrifices inspired thousands Baloch to join the battle for liberation from the yoke of slavery and colonialism.
