Shafi Baloch served as the Central Senior Joint Secretary of BSO Azad. He was battling a kidney ailment and was en route from Mastung to Quetta for medical treatment when, on June 17, 2011, Pakistani forces intercepted the vehicle he was traveling in and detained him along with his friend Nawab Khan. Nawab was later released, but Shafi’s lifeless body was tragically discovered in Bolan on June 23, 2011.
